Bodacious Information
Rules & Information
- Each Bookworm hosts one meeting (more may be allowed if necessary). Hosts are selected in alphabetical order by last name. The hosts are responsible for choosing a book and providing questions. Please keep a book in mind; it will be announced when the host is chosen.
- The host may choose to bring a snack. Bookworms are responsible for finding their own copy of the book.
- Although the strike system has been abolished, poor behavior is still (sort of) frowned upon. Enjoy your time to goof off and have fun, but be polite and pay attention when duty calls.
- Any Bookworm can give a recommendation for a book. It can still be assigned later on. Recommendations will be posted if shared with the president.
- Updates are sent whenever a new post is added via email.
- If you can't find a book at the Portland Library, check the PMS Library. If it's still not there, go directly to another library. Don't request books at our library - it usually takes two weeks for them to arrive!
- Often, Bookworms have trouble finding a book. They should go straight to the Prez or her vice (Cailen), who may be able to provide a copy. Don't forget to ask your fellow Bookworms - if you have a copy, pass it on!
Meeting Schedule
This is a fairly loose interpretation of what we do during meetings. It isn't always followed. Now that meeting start times fluctuate, I've altered the schedule to include just a certain amount of time for each part.
First 15 minutes: Announcements/Free Time
Next 30 minutes: Discussion
Last 15 minutes: Show-and-Tell/Good Ol'-Fashioned Funtime

The Veronican Method
The Veronican Method is our recommended (but no longer required) discussion method devised by Veronica, secretary to the President. The host should make one notecard for each person, with three questions per card. The host should also create a card with several full-group questions. Include questions to act out, etc. And I loosely quote:
"For this activity, pass out each notecard to each person. In numerical order, each person reads the first question out loud and answers it. Then, question two, and so on. If necessary, raise your hand to answer. Each Bookworm receives 2-3 question chances (besides their own). This activity requires no side comment, which can only be spoken if approved by the Prez. All questions are and will be different. Copying answers because of laziness ot any other lame excuse is not accepted."
